With the building of the hotel the last opening towards the water at Kalvebod Brygge was closed off.
The hotel is located on an artificial island connected to the mainland by two bridges. Its seven-storey glass tower distinguishes it from the surrounding architecture.
The hotel contains 326 rooms, ten meeting rooms, and a restaurant and bar with a view of the harbour bath and the Copenhagen Harbour. Furthermore, a gym is located at the top of the building. Danish design and a nautical inspired style mark the interior design – for example, all headboards are shaped like white sails.
Having much experience with harbour buildings in Nordhavnen, the architect Kim Utzon, son of world famous Jørn Utzon, has worked on incorporating the light as much as possible in the building.
Since the size of the rooms does not meet the criteria for a four star hotel, the hotel is only a three star hotel. Instead the location, architecture and decoration of the hotel will be used to promote it.
The hotel is part of the master plan for Havneholmen, which also consists of residential buildings, the Aller House and Havneholm Atrium.
