In 1995 the forge was rebuilt by Vilhelm Lauritzen AS for Kunstakademiets Arkitektskole (the School of Architecture at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts) and converted to its present purposes.
The forge is 160 m long and 23 m wide, and is only by its size one of the principal architectural works on Holmen. The long facade is broken by a heightened central section, where a large steam hammer once stood. It was rational matters that defined the layout of the building. The positioning of the windows, doors and gates were also determined by practical considerations.
