Rebuilt: In 1995 the forge was rebuilt by Vilhelm Lauritzen AS for Kunstakademiets Arkitektskole (the School of Architecture at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts) and converted to its present purposes.
Description:
The forge is 160 m long and 23 m wide, and is only by its size one of the principal architectural works on Holmen. The long facade is broken by a heightened central section, where a large steam hammer once stood. It was rational matters that defined the layout of the building. The positioning of the windows, doors and gates were also determined by practical considerations.
