Aalborgtårnet was built in connection with the large North Jutland Exhibition. Together with the developments in the Vesterbro area and the new Liim Fiord Bridge, the exhibition marked the arrival of functionalism in Aalborg. Ever since the exhibition the tower has been a tourist attraction and a landmark of the city. The architectural quality was and is still discussed, but the building is representative of early functionalism. The tower is a 50-metre high, tripod steel construction carrying a flat, round restaurant with a 360° panorama view.
